One DC flat figure on paper, no hourly meter — takes about a minute to start.

Anything you share is used solely to price your move — never sold, never spammed.

Short-Term & PCS Storage

Storage shows up on a lot of DC moves whether the client expected it or not. Federal PCS orders shift; a Hill staff turnover happens before the new lease starts; a Georgetown townhouse closes a month before the family is back from overseas. Mercy keeps a vaulted-storage warehouse in the DMV so we can hold the shipment and finish the move when you are ready.

What vaulted storage actually means

  • Wood vaults, each one roughly the volume of a small studio.
  • Your shipment goes into the vault at our warehouse — not into a self-storage unit you load yourself.
  • Vaults are stacked in our climate-aware warehouse, off concrete, away from the loading-bay swings.
  • Same uniformed crew loads in and loads back out.

DC storage pricing

Home size Vaults Monthly storage Inbound / outbound move
Studio / small 1-bed 1 vault $125 / mo From $489 each way
1-2 bedroom apartment 2-3 vaults $245 – $345 / mo From $685 each way
3-bedroom rowhouse 4-5 vaults $465 – $565 / mo From $1,285 each way
4-bedroom single-family 6-7 vaults $685 – $785 / mo From $1,950 each way

Storage works as the bridge between local moving across DC and a long-distance run later in the year — one Mercy crew, one inventory list, two delivery dates. Released-value coverage is included, full-value protection optional, and the warehouse is staffed by the same office team that booked your move. No annual contract, month-to-month.

What rides in your DC flat rate

  • Warehouse-vaulted storage in our DMV facility — not a public mini-storage unit
  • Same Mercy crew loads the vault and the same crew loads it out months later
  • Inventory list (paper + digital) so you know exactly what is in each vault
  • Climate-aware vault siting — off concrete floors, away from loading-bay swings
  • Released-value coverage in storage; full-value protection optional
  • Flexible billing: by the month, no annual lock-in, easy stop-and-start for PCS timelines

What will it run?

Two of our movers and a truck at $169/hr, or lock one flat written DC number up front

Blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap and basic COI prep all ride in the rate; step up to a three-mover crew with truck at $219/hr.

Questions on this service

What is the difference between Mercy storage and a self-storage unit?
Self-storage is a concrete room with a roll-up door — you load it, you unload it, you live with the humidity. Mercy storage is warehouse-vaulted: our crew loads your goods into wood vaults, the vaults sit inside our warehouse, and our crew loads them back onto our truck whenever you are ready.
Can you do storage-in-transit for a federal PCS move?
Yes. Storage-in-transit is normal on federal PCS jobs — orders shift, housing is not ready, the kids are mid-semester. We hold the shipment in a vault, then deliver to the destination when you say go.
What does DC storage cost per month?
Pricing is by the vault. A typical studio fits one vault, a 2-bedroom fills 2-3 vaults, a 3-bedroom rowhouse 4-5. See the table below for the monthly bands, with the inbound and outbound moves quoted as flat rates.
How it works

How a DC move with our crew comes together

1

Send both ZIPs and a target date

The address you’re leaving, the one you’re landing in, and the size of the home — under a minute, nothing owed.

2

Read one flat DC figure in writing

A single locked number lands back — no hourly clock ticking on the crew while they work the stoop.

3

Our uniformed DC crew rolls in

W-2 movers in our own trucks arrive on schedule and run the whole job from first box to last.
