Commercial, Law Firm & Office Moving (K Street, Penn Quarter)
Office moves in the District look nothing like residential. The building wants a COI a week early, the landlord wants the freight elevator off-hours only, and you want every desk landed and plugged in before Monday at 8am. I’m Damon Whitfield, and Mercy has been doing DC commercial work since 2010 — K Street law and lobby firms, Penn Quarter consulting offices, Hill nonprofits, and Embassy Row professional households.
How a Mercy commercial move runs
- Walk-through with your operations lead on both ends. We map the floor plan, count workstations, count laterals, count monitors.
- COI issued to landlord and destination building, in their exact wording.
- Friday-evening load. Workstations broken down, IT crated, files dollied, everything color-tagged.
- Saturday-Sunday move. Reassembly at the destination, desks back to their floor-plan spot.
- Monday morning open — we are on-site for the first hour to handle anything that needs a re-do.

Commercial work pairs naturally with short-term storage when the new floor is not ready, and the office crews are the same uniformed Mercy team that runs our residential whole-home moves. DC moving license plus US DOT and MC authority on file, our own trucks, our own W-2 crew, our own office — no broker, no matched carrier, no day-labor handoff. Up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment optional.
What rides in your DC flat rate
- After-hours and weekend windows — offices open for business the next morning
- Building COIs issued to your landlord's exact wording, pre-move
- Workstation breakdown and rebuild — cubicles, monitors, ergonomic chairs, all labeled
- Server-rack and IT-equipment handling with proper securement (no cold-pack co-mingling)
- Lateral-file and binder-cart workflow that survives a four-floor freight-elevator rotation
- Color-coded floor plan so each desk lands at its mapped spot at the destination
