I’m Damon — DC to Miami is the full I-95 spine

I’m Damon Whitfield, owner of Mercy Movers in Washington, DC. Miami is about 1,060 miles south of the Districtstraight down I-95 through Richmond, the Carolinas, Savannah, Jacksonville and the length of Florida. It’s our longest regular route, run as a 2–3 day dedicated haul with two overnight stops at secure yards.

One truck, one Mercy Movers crew, both ends

  • DC pickup: COI to your building, marble-stoop and narrow-stair protection, parking permit pulled
  • South on I-95, 1,060 miles, two overnights at secure yards
  • Miami delivery: COI on file with the building, freight elevator booked, shuttle if your Brickell or South Beach block won’t take a 26-ft truck

Flat rate, signed in DC

I lock the number in writing in the District before the truck rolls — no hourly meter once we cross into Virginia, no surprise add-ons at the Miami curb. Released-value coverage included; full-value optional and on the contract before we load. Read the long-distance page, browse other long runs on the routes hub, or jump back to Mercy Movers home. Need everything boxed first? Full packing.

Questions on this route

Is 2–3 days honest for a 1,060-mile move?
Yes — we run it as a dedicated long-haul. Federal hours-of-service rules mean two overnight stops at secure yards. The alternative is rushing, and rushing breaks furniture.
Brickell or Edgewater high-rise with strict COI and time windows — handled?
Yes. Imani in our DC office files the COI, books the Brickell, Edgewater, Wynwood or Coral Gables freight elevator, and confirms the loading-dock time before the truck leaves the District.
Same Mercy Movers truck and crew at the Miami end?
Yes. We don't hand off in Jacksonville and we don't hire day labor in Miami. Same W-2 crew, same uniforms, both ends.
How it works

How a DC move with our crew comes together

1

Send both ZIPs and a target date

The address you’re leaving, the one you’re landing in, and the size of the home — under a minute, nothing owed.

2

Read one flat DC figure in writing

A single locked number lands back — no hourly clock ticking on the crew while they work the stoop.

3

Our uniformed DC crew rolls in

W-2 movers in our own trucks arrive on schedule and run the whole job from first box to last.
