Full-Service Packing & Unpacking
Half of what makes a Mercy move feel easy is that somebody else packed the kitchen. I’m Damon Whitfield, and we have run full-pack jobs for a long time — embassy households, Hill-staff rentals turning over in 48 hours, three-bedroom Logan rowhouses where the owners ran out of weekends. The workflow is the same: our packers, our materials, written inventory.
What full-service packing covers
- Kitchens — china in dish packs, glasses in cell boxes, knives sheathed.
- Closets — wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, shoe cartons for the rest.
- Bookshelves — double-walled small cartons so the boxes are liftable.
- Art and mirrors — mirror cartons, foam corners, custom crating on the big pieces.
- Electronics — original boxes if you kept them, TV boxes if you did not.

Full-service packing pairs naturally with local moving the next day, or with a long-distance run where the truck rolls right after we close the last carton. Either way the materials, labor and inventory list are on one binding flat rate, written before the first roll of paper comes off the truck.
Released-value coverage is $0.60 / lb, full-value protection is optional, and we carry up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment. Same uniformed crew, same trucks, same office — pack day, load day and unload day.
What rides in your DC flat rate
- All new packing materials: double-walled cartons, dish packs, mirror cartons, wardrobe boxes
- Color-coded labels by destination room (NW house? Logan condo? Charlotte townhouse?)
- Kitchens packed by one packer end-to-end so the unpack reverses cleanly
- Custom crating quoted in advance for marble, glass tops, mirrors, art, embassy items
- Unpacking option — we open every box, place items, and haul off the empties
- Written inventory list so Imani can match it against the truck at destination
What will it run?
Two of our movers and a truck at $169/hr, or lock one flat written DC number up front
Blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap and basic COI prep all ride in the rate; step up to a three-mover crew with truck at $219/hr.
