I’m Damon Whitfield — Northwest DC is where Mercy Movers does most of its city work
I grew up between Anacostia and Capitol Hill, but the bulk of our calendar lives west of Rock Creek. Northwest DC is the quadrant of Georgetown townhouses, Dupont Circle walk-ups, Logan Circle rowhomes, and the Columbia Heights / U Street condo belt — and every one of those housing types needs a different game plan. Mercy Movers runs our own trucks and W-2 uniformed crew on every NW job, no day labor and no broker hand-off.
The neighborhoods we work most
- Georgetown — federal-style townhouses on cobblestone alleys; DDOT no-parking permits and shuttle trucks are standard here.
- Dupont Circle & Adams Morgan — 4- and 5-story walk-ups with no elevator and tight marble stair turns.
- Logan Circle & Shaw — three-floor rowhomes (often with a cellar and a roof deck) renovated to the studs.
- Columbia Heights & Petworth — mid-rise condos with freight elevators and strict COI windows.
What the NW move actually looks like
Half my Northwest work is federal-government PCS, K Street law-firm partners, and World Bank / IMF households rotating in or out of the District. Building managers want a certificate of insurance 48 hours ahead, an elevator reservation, and a time-window confirmation in writing — and we hand all three over before the truck rolls. For specialty items see our piano, safe, and embassy crating page; if you’re in a high-rise, my apartment and condo crew handles the dock paperwork.
The flat rate, in writing
I lock the price in writing before we load. No hourly creep when the Georgetown stoop turns out to be 14 steps instead of 10, and no "fuel surcharge" tacked on at the end. Browse all our DC service areas or jump straight to Georgetown if that’s your block.

Our DC crew already knows the marble stoops, the narrow staircases, the cobblestone alleys, the parking permits and the freight-elevator windows throughout Northwest DC.
