About pricing
Local jobs run on a flat rate built from your walk-through. Long-distance jobs run on a binding flat rate as well. You’ll see both in writing before we load. See the cost calculator for a ballpark.

Are you a moving company?
Yes — Mercy Movers is a fully licensed and insured Washington, DC moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with a DC moving license and US DOT and MC authority.
Is the price you quote really the price I pay?
Yes. We do a walk-through (in person or by video), then issue a flat rate in writing before move day. That's the number you sign and the number you pay — no hourly drift, no surprise heavy-item fees, no fuel surcharge sprung at the end.
What parts of the DMV do you cover?
All four DC quadrants — Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Dupont, Adams Morgan, Logan, Shaw, Navy Yard, Columbia Heights and the rest — plus across the river into Arlington and Alexandria VA, and up into Bethesda, Silver Spring and the rest of Montgomery County MD.
Do you take a deposit?
For local DC and DMV jobs, no deposit. For long-distance interstate moves we ask a small deposit to hold the truck and crew on your date, and it's credited against your flat rate at delivery.
How are my things insured?
Standard released-value coverage is $0.60 per pound per article at no extra charge. Full-value protection is available as an upgrade, and we carry up to $1,000,000 of cargo coverage per shipment on interstate work.
Can you pack for me too?
Yes — full-pack, partial-pack or just the fragile-only kitchen and china cabinet. Our crew brings paper, bubble, dish packs, wardrobe boxes and custom crates for mirrors, art and marble tops.
My building requires a Certificate of Insurance and an elevator reservation — can you handle that?
Every week. DC condos at the Wharf, Navy Yard, NoMa, Penn Quarter and Dupont all want a current COI in their exact wording plus a freight elevator window. Send us the building's requirements and Imani will issue the COI to management before move day.
Do you do long-distance, or only local DC?
Both. Our most common runs out of DC are I-95 to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Richmond, plus longer hauls to Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Chicago and Miami — all driven by our own crew, same truck, same faces both ends.
I'm on a federal PCS — can you bill the relocation or work with my orders?
Yes. We work with federal civilian PCS, military families rotating in and out of the DMV, and contractor relocations. We can put together the paperwork your relocation office needs and store household goods short-term between leases.
Will the same crew that loads my house also unload it?
On local DC and DMV moves, always. On long-distance, the same Mercy Movers truck and lead driver who loaded in DC are the ones who open the back door at your new place — no transfers, no third-party unload crew.
