I’m Damon — DC to Boston is a route my chiefs know cold

I’m Damon Whitfield, owner of Mercy Movers in Washington, DC. Boston sits about 440 miles north up I-95, through Baltimore, Wilmington, the Jersey Turnpike, around or through New York, and up through Connecticut. It’s a 2–3 day move — and I’d rather quote that honestly than promise a day-one delivery I can’t hit through the NYC choke point.

One truck, one crew, both ends

The lead driver who watches the boxes leave your Dupont Circle or Capitol Hill rowhouse is the same lead driver knocking on the door of your Beacon Hill, South End, Back Bay or Cambridge address. No hand-off, no broker, no day labor.

  • DC: COI to your building, marble-stoop protection, parking permit pulled
  • Drive: I-95 north 440 miles, overnight at a secure yard
  • Boston: freight elevator booked, narrow-street shuttle if your block won’t take a 26-ft truck

Flat rate, written before we load

Video or in-home survey out of the District, then a binding flat number. Read the long-distance page for what’s included; bringing a piano or safe? See piano & specialty. Other Northeast options on the routes hub.

Questions on this route

Why 2–3 days for Boston when it's only 440 miles?
Because we drive through New York. Even running overnight up I-95, the metro NYC stretch is unpredictable and parking in Beacon Hill, the South End or Cambridge needs a real time window. We'd rather promise day two or three than miss day one.
Same Mercy Movers crew at the Boston address?
Yes. The W-2 crew that loads you in DC unloads you in Boston. No agent network, no carrier hand-off, no day labor at the destination.
Brownstones, third-floor walk-ups, narrow Cambridge streets — comfortable with that?
Very. Capitol Hill is our daily — narrow stairs, marble stoops, no driveway. Boston brownstones and Cambridge triple-deckers play the same way.
How it works

How a DC move with our crew comes together

1

Send both ZIPs and a target date

The address you’re leaving, the one you’re landing in, and the size of the home — under a minute, nothing owed.

2

Read one flat DC figure in writing

A single locked number lands back — no hourly clock ticking on the crew while they work the stoop.

3

Our uniformed DC crew rolls in

W-2 movers in our own trucks arrive on schedule and run the whole job from first box to last.
